The BodyFoundations program is designed to give you simple and effective tools to discover the beauty and function of the body you are in. Our modern lifestyle (sitting, driving, cell-phones) has changed your body’s relationship to the force of gravity. Bodies are actually designed to be supported by gravity. And the repetitive movement patterns, and the amount of sitting we do in a typical modern life can leave your body fighting just to stay upright. In our BodyFoundations programs we will show you how to counteract the the changes in your body brought about by our modern lifestyle and the effects of gravity. In our BodyFoundations program you’ll learn to re-awaken muscles and movements that haven’t been effective since you were a child. Each day you practice these simple movement patterns your body will continue to increase strength and function and decrease stress. When you are moving more efficiently you will lose fat easier and increase muscle mass faster. You’ll begin to feel stronger in your day, your workouts, and your life. This program will help you take your fitness to a new and deeper level by increasing efficiencies as you work, play, run, lift, swim, walk, etc. Whatever goal you may have for your body and your life the BodyFoundations program will support you in reaching that goal and having a body and life that really works for you. And the BodyFoundations program has an even deeper benefit. You’ll find your whole life changing, especially when it comes to connecting with others. A beautiful thing happens when you deepen your own connection to your body. As you begin to feel more and listen deeper to the wisdom of your body and what it needs to feel great, you’ll begin to notice how others feel too. Your intuitions change. The BodyFoundations program promotes body effectiveness and stress reduction, helps eliminate negative self talk, can eliminate pain, helps lose fat, improves athleticism, posture, stamina, connection with others, and is a very simple but very profound method for deep self care.
A systematic approach
There are three major components to the BodyFoundations program:
Breathwork. Breathing is essential for life and foundational to a healthy, fit and effective body. We’ll show you how breathing can reinforce your core abdominal muscles in ways that support you throughout your day no matter what your current level of fitness.
New sensory environment. By laying down on the floor, rather than standing, we introduce a new sensory environment where gravity is having a different affect on your body. When you are standing your body is constantly making small adjustments to keep you vertical. These adjustments are compounded by the effects of our modern lifestyle and how our bodies have adjusted in non-supportive ways over the years. By laying on the floor we allow the body to relax in a fully supported way that gives you back control over how your body moves and how it feels when you move.
Using planes of motion and simple physics. Through a simple series of movements that work all 3 planes of motion at every major joint, your nervous system will be reminded of the deep organization that it already knows is the most supportive. We also teach the principle and skill of equal and opposite as a tool to allow you to become more and more familiar with how your body moves and how it can move most effectively.

As a 53 year old active male involved in and teaching martial arts and combat sports for most of my life, I have aggregated various bumps and bruises over the years. These include various injuries to my lower back region, multiple broken ribs and contusions to my rib cage soft tissue – causing me to compensate in my movements and put additional stress on my body. I began the BodyFoundations program and started to wake up and recognize muscles deep within me that I never had access to. I have been taught martial arts movements by Master Warrior monks, but it was this program that was able to get my body and muscles to begin to integrate the concept of “equal and opposite” tension and the concept of “pushing and pulling” deep internal muscles to initiate movements.

What I have gotten and get from the BodyFoundations program? First and foremost is direction with what seems to be the brains and science behind it. I have cut down the amount of time I spend at the gym. I did this while increasing the intensity and focus of my workouts. It’s almost as if I was running blind before. Part of what makes the BodyFoundations programs so attractive is how very easy, very low key, and simple they are. They’re the easiest thing in the world to do. Often it feels like there’s so much to learn and so many challenges to deal with already in life and the Loving Your Core program is like this incredibly lovely respite from all this. As I feel through the different movements, I notice how good my body feels at different times when the alignment exercises find their sweet spots and my body has that deep sense of pleasure and all the good feelings it evokes. I notice how good it is to experience the strength and stability of my centre/core. At times during and definitely afterwards, I feel this sense of relaxation, calmness, peace and total contentment. I have an effortless feeling of connectedness to myself and to the natural environment. The sense of peace, calmness and contentment that arise after a session also has this feeling of enough-ness. Like there is nothing I need to add to what is already present, life is just perfect and incredibly pleasurable.
My internal space has shifted significantly. I think this is probably one of the most profound and important aspects of the BodyFoundations program. Experiencing my own body in a new way creates an unusual capacity to create shifts in my internal space, my mental, emotional and psychological environment, all from realigning and resetting my physical body.
It’s as if my body is very much a clear mirror for my inner mechanisms of mind, and by resetting and realigning my body to return to its natural flow state, I also reset and realign my mind to its own natural flow state.
